National Week of Prayer for Our Streets
Monday 24th - Monday 31st October 2012.
The focus for the week is asking God's blessing on our nation and the line in the Lord's Prayer "...thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven". Praying locally for a change nationally!
Ask God what he wants you to do in your area and involve as many people as possible from other Churches and ministries as well as your Street Pastor groups. You can do as much or as little this week as you wish but please do something and keep me informed as to what you are planning as I can share ideas with people.
Where I live in Southend on Sea, we are having a prayer evening at a different Church and different denomination each night. I give them ideas to pray about but they run the evening their way so we experience all different styles of prayer. There will also be a weekend of 24 hour prayer cover each day from the Friday evening through to the Sunday and on Halloween we will be praying through the evening and also some will be going out prayer walking the streets and handing things to people they meet out there. We are also having a daytime labyrinth at one of the Churches and this will be based around the Lord's Prayer. This may be some ideas for you there....
As we are asking God to bless our town and nation, maybe there is something practical we can do to be a blessing. Ask the council if there is something you can do to help or see what God puts on your heart as a practical outreach. Again please share with me so I can encourage and give ideas to others.
As this is half term week (in my area) it is a good opportunity to involve the children and young people in prayer event(s) so if you have any suggestions on this please share them with me.
