Heal Our Land Press Release

"We are thrilled with what God is doing" says Liz Doyle, Director of "Heal Our Land UK".   "A global prayer network has joined together interceding for the nation.  Heal Our Land UK has been bringing local believers together in repentance, prayer, worship and evangelism and scores of people are coming to Christ!"

LIVERPOOL CATHEDRAL
In Liverpool Cathedral over 1000 people from many churches, (over 100 churches were involved in the week of prayer preceding the musical event) joined from many denominations and nationalities.  A local choir of over 100 people raised their voices with the 12 strong multi-cultural core choir from London in powerful songs of worship, praise and spiritual warfare.

The night was one of significance.  The organisers had tried in vain months before to get a venue for the Saturday night.  Little did they know that the very night God had planned for the event, Monday, 10 May, would be a night of decision for Prime Minister Gordon Brown.  As we prayed, he was deciding if he should step down as Prime Minister.  The next day he did and a new Prime Minster was appointed.  See or listen to the prayer that was prayed at www.healourlanduk.com by one of the church leaders.  The many Christian believers from all over the world who now call Britain "home" were released to be the "new force for the new field".

We saw this dramatically displayed the following week in Newsham Park, when over 1000 people gathered, in beautiful weather, in answer to prayer from a Pakistani theological College, for a "Multi Cultural Extravaganza".  "Make Jesus Known" provided their expertise and welcomed the many groups who brought their own national flavour to the stage in song and dance.  A group of Iranian believers led dozens of people who were there from Pakistan, various African nations, northern and southern Americans and local Liverpudlians, in a spontaneous dance.  Through this expression of God's love for everyone in the world, over 50 people made decisions for Christ including 6 Iranians.  Around 100 people prayed to receive Christ over the week of evangelism, in the park and on the streets.

Some comments from leaders there:

"The prayers prayed ....with excitement and passion and unity is going to make a difference, it was really good. It was a moving, wonderful, experience.  If you are thinking of doing it in your area, Go for it!"
John Manwell, Chairman, Together for the Harvest

"We had a fantastic time...a wonderful atmosphere of music, praise and prayer as God's people have come together to give Him the worship and to be challenged to go out and heal our land." Wayne Clark, BBC Radio Merseyside

"We felt the presence of God...and that (Heal Our Land) is absolutely right for the nation, it's where the nation is at.  We believe we have been the voice of God at a time like this...it is a part of what God is doing, we look forward to see what God will do ...Tani Omideyi, Lighthouse

"Something very unique...different flavours, different expressions of church gathering in one place, unified by the Good News of Jesus Christ.  We have not only declared and proclaimed that Jesus is the answer for our cities and for our nation but we believe we have loosed something in the heavenlies that will flood into our land and see it healed for the glory of God."
Pastor Dave Connelly,  Frontline Church

" I am trusting that as Heal Our Land as goes to other parts of this country, what has happened here in Liverpool tonight will be like a benchmark. I praise the Lord for this!
Pastor Ayo Akinsanya, Deeper Life Bible Church

ASHFORD, KENT
On 29th May over 700 people flooded into the Stour Centre in Ashford, Kent. Pastors and choir members from 20 local churches took part in the evening along with the core choir led by Lloyd Wade.   This date was significant for Ashford as the country was celebrating the "miracle of deliverance" at Dunkirk 70 years previously on the 27th May 1940.  Ashford was a point of evacuation and locals still remember those events and how on Sunday 26th May, 1940, King George VI called the whole nation to a Day of Prayer.  Immediately a series of miracles occurred and amazingly 335,000 men were evacuated from Dunkirk, which was a turning point in world history.

With this in mind, we invited the local British Legion to take part in the production and within 24 hrs, they marched with flags and a 12 man squad of retired Nepalese Gurkha troops and their families, who now make their homes in Ashford!

The following week was filled with many evangelistic outreaches in the streets, schools, in dinners, concerts and youth activities.  There was a fresh openness to the Gospel.  People from China, India, Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Iraq. Turkey and Sri Lanka heard the Gospel for the first time on the streets of Ashford!  They came to the evening events to hear more!

The Multi Cultural Extravaganza in Victoria Park was opened by Ashford MP Damien Green, Minister for Immigration, and despite the rainy weather, well over 1000 attended and 25 people were prayed with for salvation.

Throughout the week, over 100 people were prayed for and 60 people are now being followed up, after making decisions to follow Christ. God touched peoples' lives. A whole family came to Christ and has joined a local Alpha course.

Some comments by leaders in Ashford:
"This whole event has been such a challenge and an awakening, especially for this nation at this time with a change in government.  This is such a fantastic opportunity.  God's people need to be prepared to respond to the
challenge that this event brought.  I hope the effects of this goes on for many years."
Richard Eason, Francis Road Evangelical Church

"It has been an amazing opportunity to work with other churches in unity with each other...with no barriers of race or creed or church or denomination...
Caire Watson, Highfield Community Church

"It was absolutely fantastic...all the singing and words really inspired me to want to tell the youth about God and go out and really impact their lives and tell them about God." Bethany Webb, Youth Leader, Ashford Christian Fellowship

"Heal Our Land, absolutely brilliant!  Everything combined with the music, with the choreographing of dances, the banners, and the prayers for our land, for repentance and awakening.  You've got to be part of this!  It's a time of change for our land!"
Pastor David Lamb, Ashford Christian Fellowship.

BATTLE FOR BRITAIN
The Bexhill-on-Sea performance falls on the 70th anniversary of the beginning of the Battle of Britain, 10th July 1940.   Defeat appeared inevitable as the King and his church advisers called for Sunday 8th September 1940 to be a national day of prayer for a miracle to turn the tide in what was already becoming known as the "Battle of Britain"!  Suddenly, for no rational reason, Hitler ordered the Luftwaffe to switch it's attack back to London.  This saved Fighter Command. For the Germans, it was a, 'catastrophic blunder ..' and proved to be a turning point in the war.  The Spitfires and Hurricanes took a tremendous toll of the enemy and by mid - September, the German Air Force had suffered such great losses that they ceased their mass attacks. On the 17th September 1940 the German High Command issued an order,
"The invasion of England is postponed until further notice."
The Battle of Britain was won. Winston Churchill addressed the nation: "Never in the field of human conflict has so much been owed by so many to so few."
But the whole nation acknowledged that it was not simply their tiny but resourceful armed forces, or the skill of their young airmen that had repelled the might of the enemy but the power of prayer and the faithfulness of God.
In this Battle for Britain, AIR SUPREMACY must be gained in the spiritual realm! Our prayers do just that (2 Cor 10:4). God hears us and creates the conditions for victory, and like those courageous men and women who risked their lives to save their fellow countrymen, we, as believers must be mobilised to rescue our families, friends, neighbours and work colleagues from the dangerous moral decay and sinister corruption that threatens our very existence! This is not a battle that can be won, on the land or in the air, with physical weapons of war, the weapons must be SPIRITUAL. We believe Heal Our Land UK in Bexhill and Fair Oak, Eastleigh is a part of this Divine arsenal! Let's get air supremacy and then take our streets back for Jesus!
