NORTHERN IRELAND

Prayer is in our “DNA”. Over the centuries there always have been “wells of prayer” and more recently over the years of the “troubles” many groups of people praying together sprung up throughout our province and many prayer initiatives were born.

Today as with many other parts of the world we and the rest of “His Isles” are seeing an amazing groundswell of prayer as people take up the call to pray. God is using this call to pray to connect people across communities, churches and generations in a way or on a level that we have not experienced before.

So what is happening in Northern Ireland?

  • Prayer is happening right across our province as individuals, churches, monasteries, communities, ministries and networks respond to our need and the desire God has put on our hearts to pray. Prayer is happening in every county and in almost every area of society. A growing number of prayer initiatives have started at a local community level as some Christians are seeing the need to pray together about social issues affecting all generations.
  • Irish Prayer Association seeks at different levels to build relationship throughout the praying community in Ireland North and South and to encourage and connect individuals and prayer ministries as we travel on this journey of prayer together.
  • The Global Day of Prayer has been a useful catalyst in many cities and towns, bringing churches and communities together to pray for their community, nation and the world and providing another context through which they can express God’s love in very practical ways within their neighbourhoods. GDOP events have taken place in churches, monasteries, houses of prayer, youth centres, on high places, in town centres and parks, on historic sites and in Stormont our seat of political government – each year we see more communities taking part. www.transformations-ireland.org / www.globaldayofprayer.co.uk
  • 24/7 prayer is growing and we are seeing many churches catching the vision for this www.24-7prayerireland.com
